State of Alaska is also known as the Last Frontier

Hmong in Alaska website, city of Anchorage, Alaska.
Alaska is the largest state in the United States in terms of land area. Alaska's population has been rapidly increasing over the recent years to 626,932 and counting. Alaska's attractive summer weather and many outdoor activities like trout and salmon fishing, hunting, camping, hiking, mountain climbing, four-wheeling, white water rafting, and beautiful scenic views bring tourists Alaska. In the winter, Alaska is just as fun. Many people enjoy snowboarding, skiing, sledding, ice fishing for trout and land-locked salmon, Iditarod dog sled race, and many more.  Alaska is not as cold as many people from the lower 48 states think. In fact, Alaska is warmer than many other states like Minnesota.
Alaska adopted the flag for official state use in 1959. The blue field represents the sky, the sea, and mountain lakes, as well as Alaska's wildflowers. Emblazoned on the flag are eight gold stars: seven in the constellation Ursa Major, or the Big Dipper. The eighth being the North Star, representing the northern most state.Anchorage has two universities: University of Alaska, Anchorage (UAA) and Alaska Pacific University and several private institutions such as Charter College, and Career Academy.  Some people from the lower 48 states still think we live in igloos and riding on dog sleds for transportation. It may be true in the rural areas of Alaska, but not Anchorage and other urban cities like Palmer, Wasilla, and Eagle River. Anchorage has been developing very rapidly over the past decade to become the largest city in Alaska. Half of Alaska's population are in Anchorage. Anchorage is beautifully surrounded by many mountains and has over one hundred lakes.
Many giant business retailers such as Wal-Mart, Costco, JC Penny, Best Buy, CompUSA, Bed Bath and Beyond, Old Navy, GAP, etc.. has opened up their stores here. We have many large shopping malls such as the Dimond Center, 5th Avenue Mall, Northway Mall, and Sears Mall, yet adding one more under construction in Mountain View. Anchorage's economy is booming, housing market has been a steady climb and shows no sign of weakness. Home prices in Anchorage have doubled, yet still is more affordable than many other cities in the United States. Many people are relocating to the Last Frontier state for cheaper housing, abundance of outdoor activities and job opportunities. Anchorage winter has been mild the last few years, could be the cause of global warming. Anchorage has the perfect summer climate averaging around 70 degrees and mild winter around 30 degrees.  No wonder Anchorage is the largest city in Alaska.
